Welcome to our website. If you are familiar with the firm Bacon, Jessee & Perkins you may notice some changes and a couple of new faces. Whether you are a local in the Lakeway area or you are just seeking out counsel in our area, let me tell you our story.
Herbert M. Bacon started the law firm Bacon & Associates in 1950 right here in Morristown, Tennessee. Mr. Bacon was soon joined by law partner John H. Dugger, when the firm then became known as Bacon & Dugger. Messrs. Bacon & Dugger were both very highly respected attorneys in our area the entire time they each practiced law. Mr. Bacon served as attorney for both Morristown City and Hamblen County for several years.
Around the early to mid 1970’s Bacon & Dugger were joined by Messrs. Richard C. Jessee and Ronald L. Perkins, who both become partners of the firm making it then Bacon, Dugger, Jessee & Perkins – a name it would be known by for several years to come.
Mr. Jessee, known to most as Dick, would pick up the reins as the attorney for Morristown City from Mr. Bacon in 1971 and he still holds that position today. In addition to representing the City, Mr. Jessee also represents Morristown Utility Systems and has an infamous history as a civil litigator handling cases ranging from worker’s compensation to medical malpractice.
Mr. Perkins focused his practice mainly in the areas of real estate, banking, corporations, estate planning, and probate. He was infamous for his vast knowledge of the law in these specific areas and was often called on by fellow attorneys who sought out his wisdom. Mr. Perkins was big in community service and served on several boards for banks, non-profits, and even the local Walter State Community College.
Over the years the firm was joined by a couple of others who were, at one time, named partner and subsequently left the firm. In the early 1990’s, after the death John H. Dugger, the firm became known as Bacon, Jessee & Perkins.
Fast forward a few years, in 2012 the firm was joined by associate attorney, Lauren A. Carroll, and in 2016 the firm was joined by associate attorney, W. Evan Anderson. In April of 2016, Mr. Perkins passed away unexpectedly. This loss was devastating to not only the firm, but the entire community as well. Nonetheless, we had to move forward and preserve the legacy. Mrs. Carroll and Mr. Anderson joined Mr. Jessee as partners at which time the current name, Bacon, Jessee, Perkins, Carroll & Anderson LLP, was established. Mr. Jessee subsequently decided to step down as partner, but remain active in the practice as “Of Counsel.”
